Reminder: ICC Certification is NOT a Nicor Gas program requirement

Nicor Gas does not require participating contractors to have ICC certification to offer rebates to customers. Illinois electric utilities may require ICC Certification, but this DOES NOT pertain to the gas utilities. Please continue to offer rebates to your Nicor Gas customers for qualifying products and/or services.

Help your multi-family customers save more with rebates

Don't forget that multi-family properties with five units or more qualify for all available business rebates. There are many opportunities, including boiler tune-ups (every 3 years), boiler reset controls, pipe insulation, steam trap replacement, central domestic hot water controls, and furnace and boiler replacements. Now is a great time to prepare for fall and winter months, and secure maintenance and replacement projects.

Safety tip: Safely removing vermiculite insulation

Zonolite insulation, consisting of the naturally occurring mineral vermiculite, was used between the 1940s and mid-1980s to insulate millions of homes. It’s been found that this insulation may contain a small amount of hazardous asbestos, which can be harmful to residents.

The Zonolite Attic Insulation Trust was set up so that eligible claimants may receive partial reimbursement of their cost to remove or contain the insulation in their homes. For more information about the Zonolite Trust, click here.

Contractor Spotlight: CONSTRUCT training program

CONSTRUCT is a nine-week training program that offers participants information and guidance needed to compete in construction-related entry-level jobs. In April, Insight Properties, Arc Installation, Dykstra Home Services and Munch Supply partnered with the utilities to present information on the types of opportunities available in their industries and the skillsets required for those positions. During the CONSTRUCT program, participants were trained on essential skills to prepare them for employment in these and related fields.

Thanks to these presenters, program participants have a better idea of various job opportunities and what potential employers are looking for so they can plan for their future careers.
