Home assessments:

  • Is available to customers living in a dwelling of four units or less.
  • An Energy Advisor will walk through your home to understand its energy use.
  • You will receive a customized report detailing opportunities for saving energy and money.

You can receive the following products for free during your home energy assessment:

  • Faucet aerators for your kitchen and bath
  • WaterSense® showerheads
  • Hot water pipe insulation for your water heater
  • Natural gas water heater temperature setback
  • Programmable thermostat installation or reprogramming to energy-saving settings
  • Select LEDs (ComEd customers only)
  • Smart power strips (ComEd customers only)

Public housing assessments

This offering provides free onsite energy assessment to public housing buildings in order to identify potential energy saving projects that help building owners and their residents save money on their energy costs. Potential energy saving projects include boiler and furnace upgrades, low-flow fixtures and more, all available with incentives to offset the initial investment cost.

  • Existing buildings are eligible for a site visit and energy assessment to learn what you can do to provide a more energy efficient, secure and comfortable environment for your residents.
  • Non-profit and for-profit housing developers are eligible for grants to include energy efficient building practices in the rehab or new construction of affordable housing units.

Affordable multifamily assessments and retrofits

Affordable* multi-family property owners can get technical and financial assistance to make energy efficiency upgrades and investments in their buildings. After a free assessment to identify possible energy saving opportunities, property owners are encouraged to make any suggested or necessary energy efficiency improvements by using a combination of rebates, tax incentives and low-interest financing.

* Affordable housing and low-income housing do not necessarily mean the same thing. In this document, affordable housing refers to all the types of housing that Elevate Energy works with, as follows: Elevate works with a variety of subsidized (including Section 8) and un-subsidized multifamily properties. For non-subsidized housing it targets low-income areas, and building owners certify that the rent is affordable to families at or below 80% of the area median income.
