Complete System Replacement Rebates

Through a partnership between Nicor Gas and Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), residential customers of both utilities are now eligible for cash rebates when installing both a qualifying furnace and central air conditioning system.

*Customers who purchased and installed a qualifying high-efficiency furnace and central air conditioner between February 1, 2013 and April 30, 2013:

If you purchased and installed a qualifying high-efficiency furnace and central air conditioner between February 1, 2013 and April 30, 2013 you are eligible to receive a $100 or $250 dollar bonus rebate from ComEd in addition to the rebate amount listed above.

The $100 or $250 ComEd bonus rebate for customers who purchased and installed a Complete System Replacement between February 1, 2013 and April 30, 2013 is based on the efficiency of the installed central air conditioner. If the installed central air conditioner has a SEER between 14.5 and 15.9, the customer is eligible for a $100 bonus. If the installed central air conditioner has a SEER of 16 or greater, the customer is eligible for a $250 bonus. To receive the ComEd limited time bonus, applications must be submitted online or postmarked within 90 days of installation or by June 15, 2013, whichever comes first.

Requirements for Complete System Replacement Rebates

  • Heat pump installations are not eligible for CSR rebates.
  • Furnace installations must meet all requirements listed on the High-Efficiency Furnace Rebates page.

Central Air Conditioning Unit Requirements:

  • New equipment must have a SEER rating of 14.5 or greater.

  • The evaporator coil and condenser unit combination must be AHRI Certified (Visit www.ahridirectory.org to verify certification, or click here for more information on the AHRI Number).

  • The rebate amount of $250 is for the complete central air conditioning unit, including both the evaporator coil and condenser unit.

Participation and Application Requirements:

    • Participant must be a current residential delivery service customer of Commonwealth Edison (ComEd).

    • Application must be postmarked (or submitted online) no later than 90 days after the initial installation date, or by June 15, 2013, whichever comes first.

    • Installation of a qualifying high-efficiency furnace and central air conditioning unit must be completed at the same time by the same installing contractor. The Furnace must be fully installed and operational prior to of this application. If installation is completed in the winter months (November through April) and the Condenser Unit cannot be placed, the Furnace and Evaporator Coil must be installed at the same time. The Condenser Unit must have installation planned for the spring and be completed by May 31, 2013.

    • All equipment, including the furnace, evaporator coil and condenser unit, must be included on the same invoice.

    • Complete System Replacement rebates are available for qualifying equipment purchased and installed June 1, 2012, through May 31, 2013, or until funds are depleted. The rebate amount is determined by the date which the equipment was purchased and installed.  See tables above for more information on eligibility.

General Program Requirements:

    • Equipment additions to a residential dwelling, which are not replacing existing natural gas equipment, are not eligible for rebates.

    • Replacement equipment must be new. Resale equipment, new parts installed in existing equipment, or equipment that is leased, rebuilt, rented, received from insurance claims or won as a prize do not qualify.

    • Equipment must be installed by a professional contractor conforming to all applicable building, local and state codes, and manufacturer specifications.

    • Indoor equipment must be installed and operational prior to requesting a rebate at the service address included on the rebate application. Outdoor equipment may be scheduled at a future date (no later than 5/31/13) if weather prevents immediate installation.

    • Equipment must be installed in a single-family dwelling, or a multi-family dwelling of three units or less.
